Between 10:22 AM and 10:33 AM PDT , and between 10:47 AM and 11:06 AM PDT , we experienced increased API error rates and latencies in the US-WEST-1 Region. APIs also returned insufficient-data in the results from EC2 instance status checks and CloudWatch alarms transitioned into "INSUFFICIENT_DATA" state if set on the delayed metrics. EC2 instances operated normally during this time. The issue has been resolved and the service is operating normally.

At 5:32 PM PDT a number of instances in a single Availability Zone in the US-WEST-1 Region lost power. Power was restored at 6:05 PM, and by 7:27 PM the majority of instances had been recovered and were back online. There were a small number of instances that took longer to recover, and by 8:40 PM the remaining instances had been restored. Additionally during this period we experienced increased latency and error rates for VPC related API calls including new VPC instance launches. API latency and error rates have also recovered, and the service is now operating normally.
