Automated data center procedures to ensure data and hardware integrity went into effect when temperatures hit a specified threshold and critical hardware entered a structured power down process. Azure Service Management Failures - Resolved

SUMMARY OF IMPACT: Between 22:15 on 26 Jun 2018 and 06:20 UTC on 27 Jun 2018, a subset of customers may have experienced timeouts or failures when attempting to perform service management operations on their API Management, App Service, Microsoft Stream, Media Services, Azure SQL Database, Azure Search, Azure Active Directory B2C, Azure IoT hubs, Azure Batch, Event Hubs and Service Bus services in Azure. In addition, some customers may have experienced connection failures to the Azure Portal. Some services with a reliance on triggers from service management calls may have seen failures for running instances.PRELIMINARY ROOT CAUSE: Engineers identified a service management API code configuration that impacted background services. This was causing service management requests to fail for a subset of customers.MITIGATION: Engineers performed a rollback of the recent deployment task to mitigate the issue.NEXT STEPS: Engineers will continue to investigate to establish the full root cause and prevent future occurrences.

SUMMARY OF IMPACT: Between 20:00 UTC on 22 Jan 2018 and 21:30 UTC on 23 Jan 2018, a subset of customers may have encountered the error message "The resource you are looking for has been removed, had its name changed, or is temporarily unavailable" when viewing the "Application Settings" blade under App Services in the Management Portal. This error would have prevented customers from performing certain service management operations on their existing App Service plan. During the impact window, existing App Services resources should have remained functioning in the state they were in. PRELIMINARY ROOT CAUSE: Engineers determined that a recently deployed update led to these issues. MITIGATION: Engineer deployed a hotfix in order to address the impact. NEXT STEPS: Engineers will review deployment procedures to prevent future occurrences.

SUMMARY OF IMPACT: Between 05:40 and 11:45 on 19 Nov 2017, a subset of customers in North Central US may have experienced difficulties connecting to resources hosted in this region due to an underlying Infrastructure event which is now mitigated. Downstream impact was seen by some Azure services that rely on Networking, including: Virtual Machines, App Services, Visual Studio Team Servies, Key Vault and Scheduler, manifesting in increased latency and timeouts for some customers during this impact window. PRELIMINARY ROOT CAUSE: Engineers determined that a network device experienced a hardware fault and that network traffic was not automatically rerouted. MITIGATION: Engineers took the faulty network device out of rotation and rerouted network traffic to mitigate the issue. NEXT STEPS: Engineers will continue to investigate the full root cause and a report will be published in approximately 48-72 hours.

Our engineering teams have identified and mitigated several contributing issues; we will stay actively engaged on this issue until 100% of customers Web Apps have returned to normal service availability, while continually examining options to speed up the mitigation process.
